Many disorders affect thinking abilities or neurocognitive functioning. Some of the conditions that might affect memory, attention, or other thinking abilities are:

Neuropsychological Evaluation – a process of understanding the building blocks of thinking abilities through the use of short, functional tests. The results of the evaluation provide a pattern of strengths and weaknesses that help understand possible causes of changes in thinking abilities.

 

 

Cognitive Rehabilitation – the combination of specific exercises, activities and therapy that focus on regaining lost skills, as well as learning ways to compensate for abilities that have been permanently changed because of brain injury.

 

 

Forensic Neuropsychological Evaluations – These evaluations are similar to clinical neurocognitive evaluations, but specifically focused on answering legal questions in context of a civil or criminal case.

Forensic Evaluations typically include a much larger set of collateral information to integrate with test data. In addition, services include consulting with attorneys and other referral sources to optimally utilize evaluation information.

 

 

Psychotherapy is the counseling or other forms of talk therapy that focus on adjusting to new situations in life, coping with loss, reducing depression and anxiety, and building new skills to deal with life’s challenges and traumas.
