Doctor's Corner

Experiencing or being diagnosed with a brain disorder or injury is life changing and stressful. Our approach to each patient is one of individualized care, focused on helping each patient move forward in the best way possible for them.

What is Neuropsychology?

Neuropsychology looks at the relationship between brain function and behavior.

Clinical Neuropsychologists are licensed psychologists who have specialized training and experience including a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, neuroscience and neuroanatomy, with clinical training, formal post-doctoral training in brain-behavior relationships, neuropsychological evaluation and assessment.

Welcome to Triangle Neuropsychology Services (TNS), a clinical neuropsychology practice specializing in patient-centered care for people whose:
  • Ability to think, concentrate, formulate ideas, reason or remember is impaired

  • Symptoms are a function of a brain-
    related illness or injury

Typically patients have already received a preliminary diagnosis from another healthcare professional before they are referred to TNS. Their symptoms may range from mild to severe.

Our role is to help the healthcare team get a more in-depth understanding of how different areas and systems of the brain are working – usually those involving memory, thinking or behavior. There may be a change in areas such as concentration, organization, reasoning, memory, language, perception, coordination or personality. Many medical, neurological, psychological, or genetic causes may be involved.

Services offered at Triangle Neuropsychology include:

  • Measuring cognitive abilities
  • Determining disability due to neurological or psychiatric disease
  • Assessing disability due to injury (e.g., for worker’s compensation challenges)
  • Improving independent functioning at home
  • Re-entering occupational setting
  • Maximizing work performance
